About Jason
I chose Art Education as my major because: I have a passion for art and I want to share that passion with the young
What do you like most about our Art Education program? I have learned what it means to teach with purpose--to advocate for our children whom may not feel they have a voice as well as discovering the many ways we can become quality educators and successful facilitators for growth.
What would you say to prospective students still hesitant to declare Art Ed as a major? I have never felt alone in this program. My colleagues as well as the educators in my classes have always been supportive of my growth and will work with you to become a successful educator.
About Megan
I chose Art Education as my major because: As an artist I never felt quite fulfilled in the lonesome of my studio. I knew I was meant to open up the world to others through art.
What do you like most about our Art Education program? The intimacy and empowerment to use your voice and know you have a place to call home as you navigate becoming a new/preservice arts educator.
What would you say to prospective students still hesitant to declare Art Ed as a major?You are given the opportunity everyday to change the life of someone through art. How amazing is that?

I chose Art Education as my major because: It is the perfect combination of both the thing I love, art, and helping others.

I chose Art Education as my major because: I have a passion in art and I have always loved the idea of being a teacher (I have had experience teaching children) so I decided to put the two together.

What do you like most about our Art Education program? I absolutely love my VAF 104 Foundation drawing class. I feel so calm and happy when I draw. It’s like therapy to me.

What do you like most about our Art Education program? What I love the most about the art education program is the community in this major. There is so much support and friendly people that are always willing to help with anything.

What would you say to prospective students still hesitant to declare Art Ed as a major? DO IT! Why wouldn’t you want to teach art to kids? It sounds so awesome.

Majors: Art Education and Secondary Religious Education
I chose Art Education as my major because: I want to make a difference in kids’ lives just as my art teachers in high school did. I want to be able to provide a space where students are able to be themselves and not worried about judgement.

What would you say to prospective students still hesitant to declare Art Ed as a major? Don’t be hesitant, this program is full of fun and challenges. The outcome of all the classes are wonderful.
