Featured Initiatives and Centers

The School of Education and Health Sciences at UD multiple centers and institutes, as well as initiatives and special programs, with different focuses, providing opportunities for students to gain real-world experience before graduating.

Center for Catholic Education

The Center for Catholic Education promotes, enhances, energizes and supports Catholic schools. We are a nationally recognized leader in research and programming for Catholic schools, and we provide educators with programs and services that enhance the Church's mission and foster excellence in Catholic schools.

Brain Health Collective

The Brain Health Collective supports education initiatives, research, and community outreach in the areas of brain injury and brain health. Guided by the BHC's focus areas: increasing access to care and ensuring health equity for individuals and families affected by a brain injury, educating professionals across disciplines; conducting interdisciplinary applied research, bringing awareness to the community about brain health, and promoting related resources and events.

Community Wellness Initiative

The Community Wellness Initiative (formerly BHWET) is collaboration between the University of Dayton's four mental health graduate programs (clinical mental health counseling, school psychology, school counseling, and clinical psychology) and community partners from health, public safety, and education across 30 counties in Southwest and Central Ohio.

Bombeck Family Learning Center

The Bombeck Family Learning Center provides care to infants, toddlers and preschoolers. It also serves as a demonstration school for UD students studying early childhood education. This unique partnership allows the Center's children and their families to experience high-quality care and education. Second-year early childhood education majors actively participate in the Center's classrooms during their year-long field practicum, learning the best practices in early childhood education as they prepare to become teachers.

Upward Bound

Upward Bound is an intensive, year-round college preparatory program that provides academic support and focuses on your personal development during high school.

The program is open to prospective first-generation college students (meaning neither parent has received a four-year college degree), as well as students who come from families that meet federal low-income household guidelines.

The UD Upward Bound Program targets students who attend the following Dayton Public Schools: Belmont High School, Dunbar Early College Academy, and Meadowdale High School.

The program is federally funded by the U.S. Department of Education.
