Summer Engineering Experiences
SEE-UD: Summer Engineering Experiences at the University of Dayton
The School of Engineering invites rising high school juniors (class of 2027) and seniors (class of 2026) to our Summer Engineering Experiences June 16, 17 and 18. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about a specific engineering discipline from our faculty and using this knowledge to develop solutions for challenges our world faces today. Through engagement with current School of Engineering students and immersive, hands-on activities in our labs, participants will adopt new perspectives and skills used by engineers each day.
Cost: $100.00 per day. Interested in multiple days? You'll recieve a $25 discount for each additional day (attending 2 days: $175 total, attending 3 days: $250 total).
Limited financial assistance is available for eligible students. If you or your child would like to learn more about financial assistance, please email engineeringcamps@udayton.edu.
All camp registrations are final and non-refundable.
Dates: Each day will cater to one or two specific engineering disciplines. Participants may attend multiple days if interested.
- Monday, June 16: Choose from Mechanical Engineering (energy, sustainability, mechanical systems) or Chemical Engineering (food engineering, process engineering).
- Tuesday, June 17: Choose from Engineering Technology (sustainable manufacturing, process optimization using methods from mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and industrial engineering) or Mechanical Engineering (energy, sustainability, mechanical systems).
- Wednesday, June 18: Choose from Electrical and Computer Engineering (bioengineering, analog wave applications) or Civil Engineering (geotechnical, transportation, hydraulics).
Both camps on each individual day occur simultaneously. Students will not be able to attend more than 1 camp per day.
Time: 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Lunch is included.
We are excited to announce the addition of the Women in Engineering Program (WEP) and Multi-Ethnic Engineers Program (MEP) Evening Session this year! This event will be held in the evening on Monday, June 16 and will give campers opportunities to engage with industry professionals, hear from current MEP and WEP students and receive detailed information about how the MEP and WEP programs support students throughout their time at UD. More information will be available closer to registration!

Our summer engineering experiences are focused around how engineers can impact the Grand Challenges for Engineering — 14 game-changing goals for improving life on the planet through sustainability, health, security and joy of living.
Through our summer camps, you'll be able to
- Engage with faculty, engineering professionals and engineering students.
- Explore the diverse fields of engineering through interactive sessions. Guided by University faculty, you'll discover how engineers tackle some of the most pressing challenges facing society.
- Optional parent/guardian programming to learn about the college admission process, along with UD and engineering specifics.
Each day will cater to two specific engineering disciplines.
- Monday, June 16: Choose from Mechanical Engineering (energy, sustainability, mechanical systems) or Chemical Engineering (food engineering, process engineering).
- Tuesday, June 17: Choose from Engineering Technology (sustainable manufacturing, process optimization using methods from mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and industrial engineering) or Mechanical Engineering (energy, sustainability, mechanical systems).
- Wednesday, June 18: Choose from Electrical and Computer Engineering (bioengineering, analog wave applications) or Civil Engineering (geotechnical, transportation, hydraulics).
These camps will run at the same time. Students will not be able to attend both at the same time. (For example, a student cannot attend both mechanical engineering and chemical engineering. But they can attend another camp on June 17 or 18).
- Our engineering experiences are open to high school students entering junior (class of 2027) and senior (class of 2026) year in the fall of 2025.
- Engineering experiences have limited capacity and will fill on a first come, first serve basis.
