E-Week 2022 Design Challenge

  • Welcome to the E-Week Design Challenge
  • This E-Week Challenge is brought to you by the non-profit organization Kids Read Now and the Kern Entrepreneurial Engineering Network, KEEN for short.

    E-Week Design Challenge Details

    • The E-Week Design Challenge is open to all engineering students.
    • Teams must consist of 2 or more students.

    Your mission is to design an assistive or automated device to redesign the current rubber banding process (see the video).

    The Challenge will be in 2 phases:

    1. Jan. 14-Feb. 5 — Phase 1: Begins when your team submits an email with your team name and team members' contact information to Teams will present a “proof of concept” to judges on Saturday, February 5.
    2. Feb. 5-26 — Phase 2: Judges will select the top 5 designs to advance, and the teams will fabricate a functioning prototype to demonstrate to the judges.

    Prize Money

    • $2000 for 1st place
    • $500 for 2nd place
    • $250 for 3rd place
    • $150 for 4th place
    • $100 for 5th place
