Join us for an afternoon deep-dive into the fields of engineering and learn what sets the University of Dayton apart. Our dean will provide an overview of engineering. Afterwards, you'll choose an engineering discipline to explore with our faculty. UD engineering students will guide you through the experience!

DEAN'S WELCOME and CAMPUS PARTNERS

  • 'Why study engineering?' Join Dean Rojas for a discussion on this and a look at what distinguishes Dayton Engineering.
  • “How do I get practical experience in college?” Meet our co-op director with some important information.
  • “What high school classes are important for engineering students?” Meet our assistant dean in the Office of Student Success with answers.
  • “What next steps should I take to prepare to apply?” Our Recruitment and Admission Team member has some suggestions.
  • “How can I have a career that makes a difference in the world?” Meet the director of our ETHOS Center to see how students at UD are doing this every day.
  • “What do engineers in different disciplines do?” That’s what the afternoon sessions are for! Stick around for the next session.

EXPLORE EXPERIENCE #1

Join our engineering faculty for an overview of engineering fields and interactive lab demonstrations.

  1. Civil and Environmental Engineering
    Civil Engineering overview, followed by demonstrations on the power of water in our Hydraulics Lab and a look at infrastructure testing in our Materials Lab.
  2. Chemical and Materials Engineering
    Chemical Engineering overview, followed by a material science in food and medicine demonstration.
  3. Electrical and Computer Engineering
    Computer and Electrical Engineering overview, followed by demonstrations from our Vision Lab and Robotics Lab.
  4. Engineering Management, Systems and Technology
    Engineering Technology overview, followed by demonstrations of product development and rapid prototyping as well as effective and efficient workflow, such as time queuing.
  5. Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (Humans, Robots and Aircraft)
    Mechanical Engineering overview followed by demonstrations in our Biomechanics Lab and Mechatronics Lab.

1:40 - 2:15 p.m.

EXPLORE EXPERIENCE #2

Join our engineering faculty for an overview of engineering fields and interactive lab demonstrations. Each of the sessions listed above will be repeated, so you can choose another opportunity OR one of the following below: 

  1. Choose a second option from the list above.
  2. Meet with our Women Engineering Program director and students. Find out more about the opportunities available.
  3. Meet with our Multi-Ethnic Engineers Program director and students. Find out more about the opportunities available.
  4. Stop in to an Open Session with an associate dean, current engineering students and staff with any additional questions you might have. 

2:20 - 2:45 p.m.

STAFF AND STUDENT PANEL

  • Still have questions? We have answers! Our engineering deans, faculty and students will be available to answer any specific questions you have about studying engineering and experiences such as co-op, internships, research, study abroad and career opportunities.
