Transdisciplinary Early Childhood Education (MSE)

About the Transdisciplinary Early Childhood Education program

For prospective students looking to start in 2025 and beyond: The University of Dayton is pausing admission to most master's degree programs in the Department of Teacher Education as we evaluate our curriculum and offerings. Many certificate programs will continue to be offered. Thank you for your patience and understanding; please reach out with any questions.

As a student in the Transdisciplinary Early Childhood Education program at the University of Dayton, you'll have the benefit of learning from people in a variety of disciplines to better develop expertise that benefits young children.

This is a cohort program designed for individuals who seek to work with young children and their families. The program has multiple options, including a master's degree and two state of Ohio licenses — early childhood and early childhood intervention specialist.

Our program is a blended one, meaning the coursework specific to special education and general education cannot be separated. Another option is the Prekindergarten Special Needs Preparation program (leading to a State of Ohio-issued endorsement).
