Student Organizations

Department of Counselor Education and Human Services

  • Chi Sigma Iota: International honor society for students, professional counselors and counselor educators. Promotes scholarship, research, professionalism, leadership and excellence in counseling, and recognizes high attainment in the pursuit of academic and clinical excellence in the profession of counseling. There are currently more than 360 chapters (including two chapters at the University of Dayton).
  • School Psychologists of the University of Dayton (SPUD): Professional organization which provides support for school psychology graduate students (the first officially recognized graduate student organization on campus!). SPUD provides opportunities for leadership, service, fundraising, professional development, and social activities.

Department of Health & Sport Science

  • Epsilon Delta Upsilon (EDU): Professional co-ed fraternity for Teacher Education and Health & Sport Science majors. Promotes knowledge and understanding of their fields of study. Focuses on professional development in the fields of education and health & sport science by promoting unity, service, and professionalism.
  • Phi Epsilon Kappa (PEK): Professional co-ed fraternity for Health & Sport Science majors. Aims to increase knowledge of the health professions and preparedness for post-graduation goals, including graduate school and careers.
  • Pre-Occupational Therapy Club: Professional organization for students interested in pursuing graduate studies in Occupational Therapy. Provides opportunities for shadowing, leadership, service, professional development, and social activities.
  • Pre-Physical Therapy Club: Professional organization for students interested in pursuing graduate studies in Physical Therapy. Provides opportunities for shadowing leadership, service, professional development, and social activities.
  • Sports Nutrition Club: For Dietetics majors interested  in sports nutrition. Club coordinates activities related to how to best fuel the body for activity. Events have included working with UD student-athletes.
  • Student Dietetic Association (SDA): Student-led organization, open to all UD majors. Provides members the opportunity to develop skills in providing cooking demos, engaging in community service, and learning more about the Dietetics profession through fellowship, service, and professional engagement. Dietetics majors are strongly encouraged to join and participate in the activities provided.
  • University of Dayton Student Nurse Association (UDSNA): Professional organization to unite and mentor students preparing to become registered nurses or interested in becoming a registered nurse. To promote professionalism in nursing and to develop skills that students will need to become responsible members of the nursing profession. To create an educational environment and to be an advocate for one another. To aid in the development of the professional responsibilities and qualities of a caring nurse. 

Department of Teacher Education

  • Collegiate Adolescent to Young Adult Club (CAYAC): Student-run club for Teacher Education majors in Adolescence to Young Adult, Intervention Specialist, Foreign Language, Art, and Music concentrations. Provides service and professional opportunities for members in order to gain a better understanding of what teaching implies. Service opportunities are focused on working with children. CAYAC is the founding organization of the student education symposium, which brings together all licensure areas to learn about successful, national educational programs and innovations in education.
  • Collegiate Middle Level Association: Provides professional growth and service opportunities to Middle Childhood Education and Intervention Specialists majors. Both professional growth and service opportunities focus on working with middle level students. Active members will be awarded their first year's professional membership in the Association for Middle Level Education (AMLE).

  • University of Dayton Association for Young Children (UDAYC): Professional organization for Early Childhood Education majors to discuss pertinent issues in the field of education. UDAYC organizes programs and tutors for local elementary schools, sends students to conferences (national, state & local), and participates in area professional development programs.
