Caregiving Communities

Group Support & Resources

If you are looking for support and resources as you care for an aging adult, balance work and parenting, or are looking for a community of individuals who are navigating adoption or the foster care system, there is support here at UD. Consider joining one of our resource groups below. If you would like to lead an informal group related to caregiving, let us know at caregiving@udayton.edu and we can help you get started. Check out our calendar for all of the dates and times of our upcoming resource group meetings.

The group is a safe, welcoming, and supportive space for employees of all identities and family structures including but not limited to bisexual, lesbian, gay, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, and other diverse sexual orientations and genders. Contact Anya Galli Robertson for more information.

Self-Care as Caregiving Resource Group
Regardless of the many hats that you may wear, parent, spouse, caregiver, etc., this self-care support group is focused on the act of self-care as caregiving. If you are interested in monthly connections with other faculty and staff who identify as women, then this opportunity is worth exploring. Come as you are and share in community with other women who are navigating the act of self-care as a means of caregiving. Please contact Leah Ward for more information.

Foster Parent Resource Group

Please join with members of the UD community for our monthly meeting- all are welcome! The group offers fellowship, resources, support and advocacy for foster and adoptive families, child advocates and those interested in learning more. Feel free to bring your lunch. They say it takes a village to raise a child, but we have an entire Flyer Community to help make their lives safe and happy! Please contact Michelle Tedford for more information.

Caregiving Resource Fair
The Caregiving Resource Fair is an annual event for all UD employees sponsored by Human Resources and the Women's Center. This free resource fair allows UD employees who are caregivers (either to children and/or to aging adults) to engage with Miami Valley organizations who offer support, services, and information for those who balance work and caregiving responsibilities.
