Graduate Student Employee of the Year

New this year, we will be recognizing a Graduate Student Employee of the Year. This recognition program allows graduate students to be honored, appreciated, and recognized for their contributions to their institutions while pursuing higher education. 

2024 Nominees for Graduate Student Employee of the Year

The recipient of the 2024 Graduate Student Employee of the Year will be announced at the Student Leadership Awards on April 21, 2024. 

This event is by invitation for all nominees and their nominators. 

Selection Process and Deadline

Nominations must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2024A selection committee will review nominations and select a campus winner. Nominations are limited to ONE per graduate student employee. The information you provide may be shared with the public through press releases and other promotional opportunities.

Eligibility

This recognition is limited to graduate students. Students may not nominate other students for this award. Student supervisors may not nominate students for this award.

 Please note: Graduate Assistants are NOT eligible for this award.

Selection Criteria

Students will be evaluated on their contributions to the following categories:

  1. Diversity & Inclusion: Graduate Student Employee acknowledges the support and contributions of others in achieving results; demonstrates empathy and compassion for others; is flexible, open and receptive to new information, ideas and approaches; shows respect and value for the unique contributions of each associate. 
  2. Impact: Graduate Student Employee suggests and helps implement an idea that has a positive, tangible impact on the department or brings positive recognition to the department.
  3. Professionalism, Effective Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Graduate Student Employee collaborates well with peers, manager, department leadership and unit stakeholders; Employs appropriate methods of persuasion when soliciting agreement; addresses problems constructively. 
  4. Leadership: Graduate Student Employee is passionate about mentorship, training fellow student employees, and acts as an agent of change to support the implementation of new ideas.

Tips for Completing the Nomination

The selection committee can only make decisions based on the information provided. Please try to provide examples and evidence that specifically demonstrate the qualities on which students are evaluated. Point out specific or key accomplishments and state why the student is outstanding. Describe when the nominee went above and beyond or made a significant contribution to the department or university.

This form includes a description approximately two pages in length, which highlights how the graduate student employee exemplifies the categories listed. It is helpful if specific examples are included. 

 

ONLY ONE NOMINATION PER NOMINEE. Additional materials will not be considered. 

Helpful hint: You may want to prepare responses in a Word document then paste into the Google Form.

Nominations must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2024. Late entries will not be accepted.
