Alumni Mentoring Program

Community for Life

Students

The Alumni Mentoring Program is making a real impact for students and alumni. As a University strategic priority, the program effectively prepares students for life after graduation. The program is flexible, and you can participate from any location.

The Alumni Mentoring Program is facilitated by Career Services and Alumni Relations. To learn more about being a mentor, please see below. For current students, please click here to visit the Career Services mentoring page.

For Mentors

A minimal amount of your time can make a BIG difference in a current student or recent graduate's life. You have so much to offer a current student or recent graduate and, as our mentors can attest, having a hand in his or her success is a priceless reward.

As a mentor, you can provide guidance by:

  • Sharing the hard-earned knowledge and insight that you've acquired.
  • Navigating a Flyer through the terrain of preparing for and stepping out into the professional world.
  • Building a professional and personal relationship that lasts.
  • Sharing those life experiences that molded you into who you are today.

For New Grads

UD has made it a strategic priority to support you for life. To do so, we've enlisted our most valuable asset: our vast network of alumni. Through the Alumni Mentoring Program, successful alumni want to help you cultivate your career. Why? Because that's what Flyers do.

Finding a great mentor is one of the smartest things you can do to further your career. Here are a few benefits:

  • Gain industry knowledge from someone who has been in the trenches.
  • Stretch your thinking. You have the next step in mind... maybe a few. A great mentor can provide the best road map through these steps.
  • Gain new perspective. A mentor will recognize your talents and weaknesses, helping you bypass a lot of hard-won lessons.
  • Network and build professional relationships that last.

What Our Mentors Are Saying

I am proud to be able to contribute to the next generation of leaders who will shape the world we live in long after I am gone.

Eric Hendrickson '88

...this experience has allowed me to understand, on a deeper level, that I can personally do more than what I ever imagined.

Cory Miller '09

If I met someone considering this program, I would encourage them to reach out and take the risk to share their experience with a student - it will benefit you as much as it will benefit them.
