The National Science Foundation awarded two University of Dayton computer scientists $248,338 to use artificial intelligence to monitor motor vehicle traffic in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and develop a simulation to help urban planners address traffic and infrastructure problems in the city of more than 8.9 million people.

The Hanley Sustainability Institute and the University of Dayton have joined a select group of schools as host institutions for the Oct. 20-22 Global Conference on Sustainability in Higher Education (GCSHE). UD stands alongside Arizona State, Carnegie Mellon, Stanford, Colorado, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Texas, Wisconsin and others as hosts for a conference with a global audience of innovative professionals and students committed to a more sustainable future. Organized by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), the event’s theme is “Mobilizing for a Just Transition.”
