Frequently Asked Questions About Giving

General Questions

Can I choose exactly where my donation goes?
Yes, you can direct your gift for a specific purpose or to support a college, school or program that is meaningful to you. You can select from a list of priorities or indicate your preference when completing the online giving form or by calling the Office of Annual Giving at 888-253-2383.

Will my company match my donation?
Many companies offer employees - and sometimes spouses and retirees - a matching-gift benefit that doubles or triples their donations to higher education. Please visit your human resources office to learn more about matching-gift donations. Check here to see if your company matches gifts.

Is my donation tax-deductible?
Gifts to the University of Dayton, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, are fully tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Please consult your tax attorney or financial advisor to determine if your gift is tax-deductible.

Is online giving safe?
We understand some donors may be wary of sharing their personal and financial information online. That is why the University of Dayton uses an SSL Certificate to protect our online donation page. Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology means our server has a digital certificate that establishes a secure connection when an Internet user attempts to send confidential information via our donation page.

How can I honor a loved one with a gift?

A tribute gift is a thoughtful way to celebrate a special occasion or remember a loved one while making a positive impact on current and future students. When directing memorial gifts to the University of Dayton in an obituary, please consider this suggested language:

“In memory of our loved one, contributions may be made to [fund or area of choice] at the University of Dayton at or UD Advancement, 300 College Park, Dayton, OH 45469-7056.”

You are welcome to choose a fund or area with the most meaning for your loved one. If you are unsure what to select, we suggest the University of Dayton Fund, which supports areas of greatest need. For more information about named endowed gifts or if you have questions, please contact the Advancement office at 1-888-253-2383.
