Learn About Nativity Imagery from the Marian Library

By Jillian Ewalt, Kayla Harris, Katy Kelly and Shari Neilson

A new asynchronous online workshop showcases the Marian Library’s new virtual exhibit “On Paper: Nativity Imagery in the Marian Library” ahead of the Christmas season. The workshop is available Nov. 27–Dec. 11 on the 1850 platform, but the exhibit is also permanently available online.

The medium of paper and depictions of the Nativity have intersected and evolved throughout modern history. From pop-up books and holy cards to postcards and stamps, the images in the exhibit explore depictions of Christ's birth in this humble yet versatile medium. The exhibit showcases Nativity imagery from the Marian Library’s expansive collections and features books, archival materials and artwork.

The workshop is a 30- to 45-minute guided exploration of the Marian Library and its collection of Nativity images. Participants will have a chance to reflect on their own experiences and traditions. It’s PATH-eligible for undergraduate students at UD, but it is open to all.

For information about this program, contact Katy Kelly.
