Online Resources from an IMRI Grad

Join Chris Padgett each Sunday night during Advent for The Gift: An Advent Journey on his Facebook fan page (see link below) at 7:30pm EST. He and his wife, Linda, will be offering a different reflection each week about the beautiful gifts we have to share with others because of THE UNIQUE GIFT Jesus has given us. 

The couple will also present a virtual retreat on December 18: A Survival Guide to Marriage in the Pandemic.  For details, contact Linda by email at lindapadgett@mac.com.

Theme: Feast of the Immaculate Conception

Location: Saint Albert Catholic Church3033 Far Hills Avenue, Kettering, OH 45429

Walk the path with friends or say a rosary.  By the way, Saint Albert's has Mass for the feast day at 8:30 a.m., Noon, and 6 p.m.

  • Walk in quiet reflection individually or with friends and family
  • Walk the path anytime during the hours of 5-9 p.m.
  • Rosary walks with Legion of Mary at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
  • Meet at the Mary statue in front of the Spirit Center
  • Please maintain physical distance from those not in your group
  • Feel free to bring your own warm beverage to enjoy on the candle-lit path around campus

Pope: Mariology helps foster dialogue and fraternity among cultures (vaticannews.va) December 4, 2020

As an introduction to his message, Pope Francis described the Pontifical Academies as places where knowledge becomes service, because--he noted--without knowledge that comes from collaboration and leads to cooperation there is no genuine and integral human development.

An Academy, he said, is a model of synodality and a force for evangelization.

The Pope's message was addressed to participants in the XXIV Public Session of the seven Pontifical Academies, whose Coordinating Council is presided over by Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi.

This year's edition, on the theme Mary, way to peace among cultures, was organized by the Pontifical International Marian Academy (PAMI), which is marking the sixtieth anniversary of its establishment by Pope Saint John XXIII, on December 8, 1959....

New Immaculate Conception Statue Installed on Campus at the Athenaeum (athenaeum.edu) September 4, 2020

Mount St. Mary's Seminary and School of Theology (MTSM) recently installed a new statue of the Blessed Mother under the title of the Immaculate Conception, the Patroness of the Seminary, on campus.  The Most Reverend Dennis M. Schnurr, Archbishop of Cincinnati, blessed the statue on September 3, the Feast of St. Gregory the Great.

The statue is of White Carrara marble, the same as used by Michelangelo to carve the Pietà.  The base of the statue, the column, and the statue together weigh approximately 1,600 pounds and took a little more than eight months to create and five days to install.  The statue itself is approximately 3.5 ft. tall and was placed on a 10 ft. marble column that overlooks the newly renovated Marian Courtyard.  The statue and column were made possible through a generous donor....
