Humor Writer of the Month: Denise Thiery

Syndicated columnist and blogger Denise Thiery took first place in the online humor category in the 2022 National Society of Newspaper Columnists contest. When she was in middle and high school, she may have been the only student who was thrilled when an essay or book report was assigned as homework. As an adult, she wrote a weekly humor column for her local newspaper, The Campbell County Recorder, for 12 years. She also was a feature writer for the monthly Fort Thomas Living Magazine, followed by two years as a contributor to an online publication www.thesyndromemag.com. She's currently a syndicated columnist for 50 Plus Wire, previously known as Senior Wire News Service. She served as a preliminary judge in the 2022 Erma Bombeck Writing Competition, and one of her essays appears in the anthology, Laugh Out Loud: 40 Women Humorists Celebrate Then and Now ... Before We Forget.
