Faculty Hiring
Faculty Hiring
The Office of the Associate Provost for Faculty and Administrative Affairs approves and coordinates all full-time faculty hiring. Departments must follow the UD approval and hiring process as documented on this site for all benefits eligible faculty positions. This includes tenure track and non tenure track, visiting, and in-residence positions. Staff hiring is managed by the Office of Human Resources. Adjunct faculty are hired at the departmental level without involvement from this office.
Deans generally submit hiring requests to this office for tenure-track and non-tenure-track positions in August for the following academic year. This office responds to the requests in September. Sufficient planning is required to ensure that department chairs and search committee chairs are able to complete such requirements as attending the required pre-search meeting and the Hiring for Mission Retreat in the Fall. Additionally the Associate Provost for Faculty and Administrative Affairs interviews all candidates for full-time faculty positions and provides feedback to the search committee or department chair prior to their deliberations and recommendation.
