Important Information About the Student Loan Interest Freeze
The Student Loan Interest Freeze only applies to loans that are directly held by the Department of Education. Your Perkins loan is NOT directly held by the Department of Education. Therefore, no interest rate freeze will apply to your student loan(s). You are required to continue making your student loan payments as scheduled. If you are experiencing financial hardship from the COVID-19 emergency, there are deferments available. You can email COVID-19@ed.gov with any concerns/complaints or to challenge this decision.
Perkins Loan Repayment
We are responsible for maintaining, receiving, and processing payments for all Perkins Loans once the loan has been awarded by the financial aid office. The Perkins Loan department remains the loan holder and final authority on all loans until paid in full.
EXIT INTERVIEW INFORMATION
Federal regulations require all lending institutions to provide each borrower of a Federal Perkins Loan with information concerning repayment of their loan after they are no longer enrolled at the University of Dayton. (Effective December 2008)
