Professional Education Workgroup

Our Focus

Providing and promoting education about brain health and brain injuries for students and practitioners in the fields of healthcare and education.

Projects
Brain Health Symposium
The annual Brain Health Symposium invites professionals, students, and community members to learn about current issues related to brain injury and brain health. It includes interdisciplinary speakers and resources.
Pre-Service Education on Brain Injury
We work with pre-service training programs to provide current and field-specific information about the care of clients with brain injuries. To this end, we are creating brain injury education modules tailored to different disciplines, designed to be dropped into academic courses in programs across the state of Ohio. These modules will facilitate the dessemination of best practices in service delivery for clients with brain injury in pre-service programs such as nursing, school psychology, and teacher education.
TBI Resources for Professionals
We both work to create and to disseminate existing field-specific resources regarding TBI care to professionals in the fields of education and healthcare.
Book Signing
We facilitated a signing and discussion of the book She Looks Fine: A Mother and Daughter's Journey Through a TBI. Roberta Campbell and Paige Knechtly discussed Paige's injury and recovery. Dr. Colby Teeman, Assistant Professor in the Department of Health and Sport Science, discussed nutrition and brain injury recovery.
