The Institute for Pastoral Initiatives online program, the Virtual Learning Community for Faith Formation (VLCFF) has expanded classes in Arabic. Launched in the fall of 2019 in collaboration with the Church in the Arab Peninsula, the Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Arabia, (AVOSA), this long-awaited program is a golden opportunity for the Arab speaking communities to learn more about their faith on their own time, pace and schedule. 

Monseigneur Antoine Mikhael, one of the course facilitators living in the UAE, says Arabic speaking students in his online classes were definitely excited, motivated and determined to spread their faith.

"The VLCFF allowed me to exchange perspectives and find the ultimate way to convey the word of God and spread faith worldwide," Mikhael said.

The courses in the VLCFF curriculum were selected carefully, then translated to Arabic to provide the fundamental knowledge about Christianity and to prepare catechists and parishioners for different ministries within the Church.

Bishop Joseph Naffah says the VLCFF has excellent teaching materials and instructors, as well as a group of students building their knowledge and developing their faith through the discussion boards to which they all log in and share their life experiences.

"These classes in Arabic are transforming all these courses and catechists into a community of learners," Naffah said.

After just two years, the Arabic program already includes five courses (five weeks) and two seminars (three weeks) translated in Arabic. The VLCFF online program allows students to form a community of learners, giving them a chance for continuous discussion throughout each course.  

"I will enroll in more courses to strengthen my faith and my Christian background even more," said Nadine Wakim, a student in one of the cohorts.

New courses in Arabic are in the development process and will soon be available on the VLCFF platform.

لقد تم إطلاق برنامج دايتون للتعلم عن بعد باللغة العربية في الربع الأخير من عام 2019 بالتعاون مع أبرشية الإمارات العربية المتحدة بعد عدة سنوات من التحضير والعمل الدؤوب. يعتبر هذا البرنامج الذي طال انتظاره فرصة ذهبية للمؤمنين الناطقين باللغة العربية للنمو بالمعرفة حول الايمان وكل حسب وقته وقدرته.

لقد تم اختيار المواضيع بعناية كي تقدم المعرفة الأساسية حول الدين المسيحي ولإعداد معلمي التعليم المسيحي وكل شخص ملتزم بنشاط أو خدمة في الكنيسة.

يسمح برنامج دايتون للتعلم عن بعد للطلاب المشاركين أن يشكلوا جماعة متعلمين وتعطيهم الفرصة للنقاش المستمر فيما بينهم خلال الدورة.

بعد عامين من إطلاقه، يوجد حاليا 5 دورات و2 سمينار. هناك عدد من الدورات التي يتم إعدادها الآن وستتم إضافتها قريبا على منصة VLCFF.

لنقل كلمة الله ونشر الايمان في كل أنحاء العالم. كان الطلاب في أول دورتين متحمسين جدا ولديهم محبة وإصرار على نشر
ايمانهم. لقد قضينا وقتا ممتعا جدا حيث تجاوزنا الوسط التعليمي التقليدي وانخرطنا بنقاشات ومناظرات وأسئلة مختلفة. هذا ما
سمح بفهم وتعميق الايمان وعلى الأخص مع الأشخاص الملتزمين بالكنيسة.
