Nativity Set Loans to Campus Offices and Spaces on Hold this Season

Due to staffing issues and other complications presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Marian Library must suspend all loans of art and Nativities. This includes loans to campus spaces during the Advent and Christmas seasons. It is with deep regret that we must postpone this popular and important service and hope to resume it in the future.

Hail, Holy Queen Virtual Event

On Saturday, August 22, 2020, don’t miss Hail, Holy Queen, a virtual event with Scott Hahn, John Bergsma, and Mike Aquilina. Join us on the Queenship of Mary feast day for a very special online event celebrating the Queen of Heaven and her role in the Church.

Unveil the Marian mystery of the Book of Revelation, discover how Mary is foreshadowed in the Old Testament, and learn the scriptural and historical foundations for her Immaculate Conception, Perpetual Virginity, Assumption, and Coronation.

Location: Emmanuel Catholic Church, 149 Franklin Stree, Dayton, Ohio

A rosary procession from Emmanuel Catholic Church to Courthouse Square will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2020.  Please help us to beg Mary to intercede for our city, state, and country.  The route is all outside and total length, round trip is 1.2 miles and flat.  It will be hot so bring a water bottle.

Pope Makes Surprise Visit to Basilica of Saint Mary Major (Zenit), August 6, 2020

Pope Francis made a surprise visit to Saint Mary Major on Wednesday, the feast of the dedication of the Papal Basilica, reported Vatican News.

At the church, the Holy Father knelt for a few moments in prayer in the Borghese Chapel, before the image of Our Lady, Salus Populi Romani ("Salvation of the Roman People").

August 5 is marked throughout the universal Church as the anniversary of the dedication of Saint Mary Major.  In the Roman Rite, it is observed liturgically as an optional memorial.

The origins of the Basilica are shrouded in legend, as Vatican News recalled....
