New film on Knock apparition asks: What kind of healing do we need?

The situation of Ireland in 1879 was not a pretty one.  A majority of the population suffered from yet another crippling potato famine, the government struggled to procure humanitarian aid, and a history of religious persecution tested the faith of many in the traditionally Catholic country.

They were, one could argue, sufferings comparable to what the world is experiencing today due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

It was in that year and in that country, however, that Catholics believe something miraculous happened.  The story of that miracle is told in a modern light in Hope: Our Lady of Knock, a new documentary from the Global Catholic media network, EWTN....

Pope adds three new invocations to the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Vatican News), June 20, 2020

The addition that Pope Francis has made to the Litany of Loreto, was made public by the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, on Saturday.  It was timed for the feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, June 20, 2020.

In a letter to the presidents of bishops' conferences worldwide, Cardinal Robert Sarah, the Prefect of the Congregation, and its Secretary, Archbishop Arthur Roche, note that through the course of centuries, Christians have been using innumerable invocations and titles to call upon the Virgin Mary, "as the privileged and sure way to an encounter with Christ." …

Our Lady of Fatima Shrine reports $50,000 worth of vandalism (The Buffalo News) May 30, 2019

Vandals did as much as $50,000 worth of damage to statues and other outdoor displays at Our Lady of Fatima Shrine in Lewiston this week.

Father Peter M. Calabrese, associate director, said four statues, two of them made of marble and two of fiberglass, were tipped over or had pieces knocked off.  Two of the statues, one depicting Jesus and the other St. Gaudenza, were knocked to the ground....
