Business Ethics & Environmental Sustainability: BEES take flight at museum
The Business Ethics & Environmental Sustainability (BEES) group braved the cold to visit the National Aviation Heritage National Park, located in Dayton’s Wright-Dunbar district.
Located near the homes of the Wright Brothers (and their early bicycle shops) as well as Dayton’s nationally renowned African-American poet Paul Laurence Dunbar (whose first poems were published by the Wright Brothers), the park traces the path of Dayton’s most famous citizens, Wilbur and Orville Wright, who changed careers/vocations more than once: running a printing business, later bike shops before devoting their energies full time to designing airplanes.
The BEES then did some ‘stunt/simulation’ flying of their own at the National Air Force Museum.
In addition to touring the massive collection of planes and learning about their cargoes (bombs and Presidents), the group visited a tribute to Major General Jeannie Levitt, sister of UD alum Mary Jo Flynn, who became the U.S. Air Force’s first female fighter pilot in 1993, and the first to command a USAF combat fighter wing.
