Humor Writer of the Month: Beth Lapides

Beth Lapides is the creator, host and executive producer of the revolutionary UnCabaret, which she has shepherded through more than 25 years of weekly live shows, TV, CDs, streaming and touring.

The LA Times calls Beth the "godmother of alternative comedy." And Vulture says UnCabaret has "a magical life-giving mystique and hilarious storytelling."

She is also the author of the critically acclaimed original audio book, So You Need To Decide, published by Recorded Books. It was named one of Vulture’s best comedy books of 2022, and Variety called it “a potentially life-changing treasure!” Beth was also profiled for her significance to stand-up comedy history on Vulture's podcast Good One.

Beth has written for O, The Oprah Magazine, Time, Los Angeles Times, Premiere, The Realist, Elle Decor and more. She also has written commentaries for NPR's All Things Considered. Her first book, the critically acclaimed Did I Wake You?: Haikus for Modern Living, was published in 2007.

The Infinite Creator, Beth’s coaching program for creatives, is built on decades of teaching and musing writers, performers and other humans at places like UCLA Extension, Second City Chicago, Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, mediabistro and others.
