Listen Anywhere: One Heart With Courage Available as Audiobook

Teri Rizvi’s award-winning One Heart with Courage: Essays and Stories (Braughler Books) has been released as an audiobook narrated by Sheri Saginor.

“I wanted to record this book as soon as I read it. It’s beautifully written, and there’s a gracefulness and poignancy to it. It reminds me of Anne Lamott’s writing, yet the author's voice has its own unique elegance,” said Saginor, a Boston voiceover artist and writer who narrated the book pro bono.

The narrator, publisher and author are donating royalties from the audio, print and electronic formats to the University of Dayton’s Erma Bombeck Writers’ Workshop endowment fund, which is used to keep the nationally renowned workshop affordable for writers.

In a conversational voice filled with warmth, Saginor brings Rizvi’s essays about life’s little moments to life, drawing listeners into her blended Pakistani-American family through reflections that speak to the bonds of lifelong friendships, the joys of motherhood and the power of faith in a frayed world.

“I’m humbled by Sheri’s belief in this deeply personal book and so grateful for all the time she devoted to giving life to my stories for listeners,” Rizvi said. “At its heart, this is a book about our shared humanity — and Sheri captured that spirit beautifully.”

This summer, One Heart with Courage: Essays and Stories was named one of the best books of the year by the Catholic Media Association. The collection placed third in the anthology category of CMA’s annual book awards competition. It was also named a finalist in the nonfiction: inspirational category of the 2022 International Book Awards sponsored by American Book Fest.

Rizvi is the founder and director of the Erma Bombeck Writers’ Workshop at the University of Dayton, where she serves as executive director of strategic communications. This is her debut book. She also co-edited an award-winning humor anthology, Sisters! Bonded by Love and Laughter (Erma Bombeck Writers’ Workshop), in 2021.

Listeners can tune into One Heart with Courage: Essays and Stories through Audible, Amazon and iTunes. It’s also available in paperback and on Kindle.

My Flawed Flair

Life frustrates me. It's hexed me with the weird flair for excelling at things I loathe but loving the things I’m only satisfactory at. At? What a dunce. I should  know by now that a preposition sucks as a word to end a sentence with.
