Humor Writer of the Month: Liz Alterman

Liz Alterman is a New Jersey-based journalist and humorist whose work has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, Parents and other publications.

Her memoir, Sad Sacked, chronicling the period that came after she and her husband were laid off within six weeks of each other (spoiler alert: don’t try this at home) will be released by Audible Originals on Nov. 11.

Teeming with the challenges of navigating the modern-day employment landscape while raising a family, Liz says her tale will resonate with anyone who's ever applied for a job, lost a job or haggled over the price of avocados.

Liz is also the author of a young adult novel, He'll Be Waiting, and a domestic suspense novel, The Perfect Neighborhood, which will be released by Crooked Lane July 12, 2022.

When she isn’t writing, Liz spends most days reading, microwaving the same cup of coffee and looking up synonyms.

Follow her on Twitter, Instagram or on her blog, On the Balls of Our A$$ets.
