Humor Writer of the Month: Andrea Caspari
Andrea Caspari has attitude to spare and she is willing to share it. From tales of plus-sized shopping to stories of her day job as a high school English teacher, Caspari brings a unique voice to comedy.
She often incorporates poetry, rapping and singing into her performances. Caspari recently won the Clean Comedy Challenge at the legendary Ice House Comedy Club in Pasadena, California. She will film her first professional comedy special for Dry Bar in Provo, Utah, on May 22. The Dry Bar brand prides itself on producing squeaky clean (yet funny!) comedy that is "safe for work" entertainment the whole family can watch together. Her comedy special is expected to be available by September here.
Caspari was named the Funniest Female Comedian in Kansas City, was the winner of 95.7 the Vibe's Big Break, and regularly produces and headlines her own showcases at clubs and colleges around the nation. She is also a humorous motivational speaker for schools and conventions, teaching faculty and staff how to stay positive and connect with at-risk youth. Caspari is a freelance writer for Compendium Cards' Frank and Funny, a line of cards created exclusively by stand-up comics.
Since the pandemic hit, Caspari has learned to embrace the virtual world by doing Zoom shows and online telethons for Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the USO, the Greater Kansas City Political Women's Caucus and other philanthropic organizations.
Caspari has shared the stage with Wendy Liebman, Arsenio Hall, Pauly Shore, Charlie Murphy, Leanne Morgan, Mr. D (from Ellen), Colin Kane, Jen Kober, Devin Siebold (from Bored Teachers), Luenell, Gina Brillon, Jeffrey Ross, Ian Bagg, Fortune Feimster, Chris Porter, Robert Schimmel, Jo Koy, Eric Schwartz, Tommy Davidson, Jim Breuer, Bobby Lee, Lynne Koplitz and many others.
