Marianist Student Communities
These student houses stand out for more than their overly big dinner tables.
The Office for Mission and Rector, with cooperation from Campus Ministry, provides a unique housing opportunity for students who are interested in exploring the Marianist tradition and committed to living in community within the student neighborhood. These communities use Mary as their model to form homes of Marianist hospitality.
Inspired by the Marianist Charism of bringing the Gospel message of Jesus to our world, students commit to live together and be a witness of Christian community to their peers in the student neighborhood. The communities strive to incorporate the Marianist Charism and the Commitment to Community into their everyday lives.
Community members commit to:
- Be a praying community, gathering two or three times a week for prayer
- Share at least two or three meals together each week
- Attend Marianist formation in-service programs
- Meet regularly with community mentors
- Engage the larger community as a house of hospitality through gatherings that bring neighbors together in the Marianist spirit
- Collaborate with their respective Neighborhood Fellow and participate in his/her programs
- Follow the rules and regulations in the University Student Code of Conduct concerning gatherings and/or parties and the use of alcohol
- Participate in Catholic and Marianist activities on campus, especially those sponsored by the Office for Mission and Rector
- Respect each other, discussing issues and problems openly, consistent with the Commitment to Community document
- Accumulate at least 8 PATH points before the deadline (even as graduating seniors) in order to maintain the MSC legacy houses
