Minors Policy Training

Information About the Minors Policy Training Requirement

>> For faculty, staff, and students (UD login credentials are required): Link to 20-minute Minors Policy Training video in SciShield

One essential element of the University of Dayton’s Children on Campus and Working with Minors Policy ("Minors Policy") is the requirement that all adults helping with a minors program or event be trained about the Minors Policy.  The program coordinator should make sure that each adult who wants to be authorized to be part of the event – i.e., each "authorized adult" – is trained on the policy’s requirements.

The Minors Policy Training video, which is approximately 20 minutes long, is housed within SciShield, the research management platform that the University uses to manage training requirements.  Program managers (of a minors program) have two options to manage this process: (1) the program manager can request that each program participant take the training individually (using the link at the top of this page), and then collect proof of training completion from each participant (i.e., each participant can forward the SciShield "completion" email that attaches the certificate); or (2) the program manager can request that a SciShield group be established, by emailing udscishield@udayton.edu.  This second option will allow the program manager and other designated individuals to check on the status of participants’ training, add and delete participants, set up notifications/reminders, etc.

Important for non-UD community members:  If a program participant does not have UD login credentials (an external community member, consultant, etc.), then that person’s name and email address should be sent to udscishield@udayton.edu so that the individual can set up a SciShield account and then have access to the training.
