Reynolds and Reynolds Company Foundation creates new scholarships

The Reynolds and Reynolds Company Foundation announced today it is pledging $450,000 in scholarship funding for 24 exceptional University of Dayton students per year, starting with the 2022-2023 academic year.

Over the next three years, the funds will benefit students who have a financial need and are enrolled at the School of Business Administration or in STEM programs. Students who are awarded the merit-based scholarship will receive $6,250 per year beginning their sophomore year and renewable for each year of their undergraduate education at UD.

Recipients will have proven they are academically gifted, dedicated, and eager to grow in their field.

“We want to recognize the established students who excel, and are investing in their own education, by giving them some financial assistance,” said David Shimek, senior vice president of corporate development at Reynolds and Reynolds.

These scholarship gifts expand Reynolds’ impact on the university’s students and demonstrate the commitment Reynolds and the University of Dayton have to the region. Reynolds has been a sponsor of the Fiore Talarico Center for Professional Selling at UD since it launched in 2013, helping give students the opportunity to prepare for careers in sales and compete in sales competitions at other colleges across the country. The company has also donated funding for the new Roger Glass Arts Center and the Dean’s Fund for Excellence in the College of Arts & Sciences.

"Reynolds and Reynolds has been a fantastic partner for the University of Dayton and the School of Business Administration,” said Trevor Collier, dean of the School of Business Administration. “These scholarships will help put a UD education within reach for high-achieving students and help ensure they are able to take advantage of the industry-leading experiential learning opportunities we offer."

Added Danielle Poe, dean of College of Arts and Sciences, "I am grateful for Reynolds and Reynolds continued support for students at the University. This gift demonstrates their commitment to broadening access to a UD education across multiple majors and that this education prepares students for success in their careers.”

The support for students will also impact the greater Dayton region, the University said.

“University of Dayton students have found meaningful internship opportunities and talented graduates have begun lasting careers with Reynolds,” said Shimek. “We are proud to have Dayton Flyers supporting our workforce needs.”
