A Tradition of Studying and Celebrating Marian Art

The purpose of our Marian art exhibits is to document contemporary trends in Marian art. Which styles are being imitated? What mediums are being used? Are there new iconographical themes and features expressing contemporary developments in theology and culture? Where does Marian art go? These questions foster the joy of discovering Mary's person and beauty.

Since 1988, the Marian Library has welcomed over 125 artists or groups of artists into our gallery. The art has spanned a variety of mediums and techniques from exhibit to exhibit, but with one common thread – Mary, the Mother of Christ. This list begins with our earliest exhibit. If available, archived web pages can be accessed by clicking on the exhibit title.
