Why I Chose UD

I knew I wanted to branch out and go to school far from home. I didn’t know UD existed until my older brother got a scholarship to play D1 tennis here. He loved the school, and I eventually visited him when I was a junior in high school. Everyone I met during my visit was super friendly and welcomed me into their world. It felt like every person I met was a tour guide, and their love for UD was infectious! People were introducing themselves to me, showing me around campus, and offering to keep in contact and answer any questions I had. It was a great environment, and I fell in love with the people and the campus. I toured 10 schools by the end of my college search. Although I had no intention of going to the same school as my brother, I chose UD because the people were very kind, and I could picture myself calling this place home for four years.

Advice for Incoming Students

My advice for incoming students is to put yourself out there, and don’t be afraid to introduce yourself! Coming to college is a whirlwind, and it can be daunting to feel like you don’t know anyone, which is why reaching out to people on your hall or joining student organizations is important. I’d also tell incoming students not to put so much pressure on themselves to make freshman year perfect because inevitably there will be ups and downs. Don’t be afraid to introduce yourself to people because everyone is in the same boat!

Why I Love UD

I love UD because everyone is really friendly and we have a tight-knit community. I love that we’re a mid-sized school because you’ll see familiar faces around campus, but you also meet new people all the time.
