Profile
Dr. Julia Randel is a musicologist specializing in music of the 19th and 20th centuries, in particular the intersections of music with dance, literature, and drama. She is currently at work on a book about Stravinsky's work with the choreographer George Balanchine. In 2017 she joined the faculty at the University of Dayton, as chair of the Department of Music. She previously served in the same position at Hope College in Holland, Michigan. Dr. Randel holds a Ph.D. in historical musicology from Harvard; master's degrees in musicology from the University of Georgia and in tuba performance from the University of Kentucky; and a B.A. in literature from Yale.
