What do you like most about your major?

I love the versatility that comes with being a Premed major. This major prepares you for joining the medical world, whether that includes becoming a medical doctor, a physician's assistant or any of the careers in between. Premedicine opens the door for a range of careers and opportunities.

What do you love most about UD?

My favorite part of the University of Dayton is its size. I find that building meaningful connections between staff and students is easier at a smaller university. I also enjoy being able to have quick access to study groups such as Student Instruction (SI), great food on Brown and fun activities led by the Multicultural Education Center (MEC) and other organizations.

Favorite class at UD and why?

My favorite class at UD is my Health Literature class (ENG 366). I particularly enjoy learning more about what health literacy is and how access or inaccessibility can effect different communities. This is a fundamental class for learning more about how you can improve patient interaction with cultural recognition.

What piece of your academic journey has most prepared you to begin a career after graduation?

I believe that shadowing has best prepared me for a career after graduation. After shadowing various doctors, dentists and nurse practitioners, I was able to gauge what type of career path I could see myself in. I believe that consistently seeing and getting hands-on experience in the field you are most interested in is the best method of preparation.

What clubs/organizations are you involved in at UD?

  • University Library Committee
  • Multicultural Association for Premed Students
  • Healing Hearts
  • Pre-PA Club

Why did you choose UD?

I chose UD first because of the Premedical Programs. Premedicine and Predentistry are usually programs, not majors. Since UD had both of these options as majors, I felt that this university was best tailored for my interest in pursuing a career in medicine. I also chose UD because I wanted to have a sense of a tight-knit community and I enjoyed the familial environment UD offered.
