What do you like most about your major?

For my Communication major, I love the endless opportunities and interesting classes that I get to take. I am honored to say I have not had a communication teacher I did not like, and my advisor, Heather Parsons, is someone I can lean on with anything even if it is not related to classes. She is like a mom to me, being that I'm so far from home. For Spanish, I love how invested the department chair is in your success and growth. Francisco has been my teacher for multiple classes and every spanish class I have taken at UD has never made me nervous to speak, but allowed me to grow in my confidence of knowing a language to become bilingual.

What do you love most about UD?

I love the care every person, from student to faculty, puts into being here. We show up for each other, and I feel like UD is a place where I can lean on others while also strive to be independent and celebrated for every step as I grow.

Have you ever studied abroad? If so, where and what did you learn most from that experience?

I studied in Madrid, Spain, last semester, and I think I learned so so much. I learned how to be fully independent, lean on people in a way that was completely new and I, of course, learned the beauty of trying new things. I was fortunate enough to visit eight countries and 12 new cities and fall in love with every single one in a different way. It is an experience I will never regret, and I returned so much more confident in my abilities to speak Spanish, as well as far more appreciative for all of my opportunities.

What piece of your academic journey has you most prepared to begin a career after graduation?

Studying abroad and an internship I had this past summer with Habitat for Humanity solidified and encouraged my drive to have a career that is impactful in the world of nonprofits and do some good after graduation.

What clubs/organizations are you involved in at UD?

  • Kappa Delta
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Catholic Life
  •  Athletics Communications Office
  • University Honors Program

Why did you choose UD?

I wanted a university that held strong Catholic values, but also offered students opportunities to try new things. I also wanted an academic program that provided me with opportunities to learn things that I was passionate about, hence my certificate in nonprofit management. What really solidified UD for me was when I was touring, the group of people I was walking by, they all chanted happily "COME TO UD." It made me so excited to see people who, even at the thought of a prospective student, were eager to have more people join the community.
