What do you love most about UD?

There is really a place for everyone at UD. Even though the school and campus are not huge, there are a lot of clubs and organizations for nearly everyone to find something they like. Even as a senior I still discover new things to become involved in.

Have you ever participated in faculty-mentored research? If so, what did you learn from that experience?

I have been participating in faculty-mentored research projects for most of my time at UD. Doing research has exposed me to areas in the field of geology that I didn't know existed previously. Research has been an interesting and rewarding experience, and I was even able to present at a conference in Denver. I have learned how to create relevant research questions, develop research methods and write and present findings. What I have felt is most beneficial to me is that it has helped me figure out what I am interested in and enjoy doing.

Favorite class at UD and why?

My favorite class at UD has been geology field camp, which takes place in Colorado. For the class, professors and students from UD stayed on a mountain and learned about the geologic history of the front range of the Rocky Mountains for three weeks. It was a very cool experience to be able to study geology in that environment.

What clubs/organizations are you involved in at UD?

  • River Stewards
  • Geology Club
  • Outdoor Adventure Club
  • Rock Climbing Club

Why did you choose UD?

UD felt like the perfect size, had a wide variety of majors and opportunities within majors and a decent amount of clubs and activities available.

What do you like most about your major?

I like that geology combines aspects from other science disciplines and can be applicable to many current issues. Another plus for me is getting to be in the field, which I enjoy and is what initially attracted me to the major.
