Professional Speaker Day

November 2, 2019

In celebration of the Davis Center's 20th anniversary, Steve Eisman will offer a keynote address at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, in the RecPlex.

Mr. Eisman is one of the most knowledgeable and respected analysts on Wall Street today. He is a prominent figure in Michael Lewis' book, The Big Short, and is portrayed by Steve Carrell in the movie adaptation. Eisman began his career at Oppenheimer & Co. where he was ranked as an All-Star Analyst by both Institutional Investor  and The Wall Street Journal on multiple occasions. He later served as Partner and Senior Portfolio Manager at FrontPoint Financial Services Fund where he rose to fame as one of the few to foresee the subprime mortgage crisis, which triggered the worst economic disaster since the Great Depression.

Mr. Eisman's address will provide the audience with a greater understanding of the 2008 financial crisis--why it happened and why most people never saw it coming. He still works in the financial industry as a portfolio manager, and will share his thoughts on what has changed in the field since 2008. Eisman will also discuss why growth in the United States was and remains so anemic and how this is an after-effect of the crisis. Through real-life examples, attendees will leave with new insights into the housing and banking markets. More details >>
