Escher Quartet: A Vanguard Legacy Concert

“Big, burnished, and bold in sound...” – The Telegraph

Sunday, Sep. 23, 3 p.m.

Sears Recital Hall

The first Vanguard Legacy Concert of the season features a string quartet acclaimed for their expressive, nuanced performances. In its home town of New York, the Escher Quartet serves as Season Artists of The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. Recipients of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, the ensemble has performed worldwide to acclaim. A favorite of Elana Bolling, Vanguard founder, this performance marks their third appearance with the series.

The Escher Quartet takes its name from Dutch graphic artist M.C. Escher, inspired by Escher’s method of interplay between individual components working together to form a whole. For this concert, the quartet will perform selections by Brahms, Britten and Dvorak.
