Why Study Systems and Industrial Engineering at UD?

  • Personalize Your Experience: Compliment your major or connect with your passion by adding a minor or concentration to your degree program. The UD School of Engineering offers more than 30 minors, or you can choose a minor outside of engineering.
  • Experienced Faculty: Many of our faculty have years of experience in the industry — including automotive, manufacturing, and product development, among others — and you'll benefit from their real-world applications in the classroom.
  • Capstone Project: Your academic journey culminates in a senior year capstone course, where you and your team will solve a real-world challenge for a client. You'll be paired with UD engineering students from majors outside systems and industrial engineering to work together to find a solution. Many clients go on to adopt the solutions presented to them by our student teams.
  • ABET Accredited: Our electronic engineering technology and mechanical engineering technology programs are accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission (ETAC) of ABET, under the General Criteria and the Program Criteria for Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology, Systems and Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology and Similarly Named Engineering Programs. The systems and industrial engineering program is new as of Fall 2026 and is currently seeking accreditation by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET. ABET accreditation assures confidence that a collegiate program has met standards essential to prepare graduates to enter critical STEM fields in the global workforce.
