Transfer and Exam Credits

The University of Dayton values your prior experience and knowledge. You can earn or transfer credit in a variety of ways.

Ways To Earn Transfer Credit

Credit By Exam

You can receive college-level course credit through AP, CLEP, A-Level and IB exams.

Coursework from Another College

The University of Dayton accepts courses from institutions that are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, Middle States, New England, Northwest, Southern and Western Associations of Colleges and Schools.

The University of Dayton also accepts courses from international institutions that are formally recognized by their country's ministry of education or its equivalent.

College Credit Plus / High School Dual Enrollment

Did you participate in College Credit Plus (CCP) or high school dual-enrollment program? Whether you took the course in high school or on a college campus, your coursework likely appears on a college transcript.

Your high school counselor can confirm which college or university offered your course. You will then need to request your transcript directly from that institution. If you have taken courses at more than one college or university, an official transcript will be required from each one.

Project Lead the Way

Our School of Engineering values Project Lead the Way, and participants may be eligible for college credit.

Military Training, Experience and Coursework

Your military training, experience and coursework are highly valued at the University of Dayton. UD accepts credit from all branches of the United States Armed Forces.

Credit Evaluation FAQs

How will my credits transfer to UD?

Our transfer credit evaluation tool allows you to see how credits you've earned will transfer to UD. Simply share details about your college-level courses or placement exams, and you'll immediately receive a preliminary transfer audit that shows how your credits will apply toward a UD degree.

You'll need the following information to complete each step:

  • Goals: Provide your UD start term (when you'd like to enroll at UD) and desired academic program.
  • Classes: Details about any college courses you've taken, including the name of the school, course name and number, the term when the course was taken, number of credits and grade earned.
  • Exams: For any placement exam credits (ex: AP, IB, CLEP), provide the exam name, score and date exam was taken.
Questions

Do you have questions about your results? Use our transfer credit inquiry form.

Why should I create a username and password for the Transfer Credit Evaluation?

By creating a username and password for our transfer credit evaluation tool, you'll be able to save your work and return to your degree audit later. If you don't create a username and password, you'll need to download a PDF to save and print for future reference.

Please note: This username and password is separate from your UD Admission Account login or the official UD login that you use to access Porches.

Your transfer credit evaluation username and password cannot be reset. If you forget your password, you can create a new account.

Is the credit evaluation official?

The audit available through the transfer credit evaluation tool is a preliminary credit audit to help you plan your path to a UD degree. Once you're enrolled at UD, you'll need to request your final transcripts and test scores to be sent to UD for the credits to be applied to your record.

Will my advisor receive a copy of the transfer credit audit?

No. We encourage you to download the audit and share it with your advisor.

My school or course isn't listed. What should I do?

Our database is continuously expanding. If you see a "No Equivalent" message with "Contact us for a course review" as the reason, please complete the transfer credit inquiry form and provide the school and course review. Our transfer credit office will research the course so it can be added to our database.
