The M.S. Engineering Management Degree consists of 10 courses, equal to 30 credit hours. Students take four core courses — probability and statistics for engineers, engineering economy, project management and engineering organizational development — then choose additional courses in engineering analysis, leadership and electives that fit their interests and career goals. Elected courses cover a range of topics including lean production systems, human factors engineering, global supply chain management, quality assurance, and more.
Most courses for engineering management students are offered in-person three semesters per year, at times compatible with the typical workday (lunch time, late afternoon, evening). These classes generally are 75 minutes long and meet twice weekly.
This program is a fully-hybrid format with the option to choose between in-person attendance or online synchronous attendance. Class recordings are available for playback. The program can be completed completely on campus, completely remotely, or a combination of the two.
Certificate Option
Interested in a master’s program but not ready to commit? Students may begin the program through a 3-course series culminating in a Certificate in Foundations of Engineering Management, allowing them to receive a stackable credential. Those credits can then be applied to the master’s degree.
Thesis Option
The master’s degree can be completed as either a coursework-only degree or students may choose to complete the degree with a thesis option. Engineering Management faculty have applied research experience in areas including:
- Using modeling and simulation tools to drive advancements in human cognition and productivity.
- Integrating AI and VR in predictive analytics to optimize learning trajectories.
- Focusing on development and implementation of conductive ink materials and advanced manufacturing techniques to overcome current limitations in electronic devices’ flexibility, durability and functionality.
