Connect with like-minded students, build essential career skills, and participate in competitions or networking events through our engineering organizations and professional societies. All engineering student organizations are open to any and all students.



Campus Clubs and Organizations

Association for Computing Machinery

Members help redefine what computing can and should do.

Joining ACM means you dare to be the best computing professional you can be. It means you believe in advancing the computing profession as a force for good. And it means joining your colleagues in your commitment to solving tomorrow's challenges.

Astronautics Club

Made up of students dedicated to learning more about astronautics, space and spacecraft. Members are also part of the international non-profit organization Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS).

Open to all UD students.

Engineering Club Student Council

The Engineering Club Student Council (ECSC) works with the school of engineering to improve engineering club outcomes at UD.

Entrepreneurial Mindset Association

Connecting engineering students with interests in entrepreneurship and innovation.

Game Development Club

Intersectional community of artists, developers and musicians from the UD student body who collaborate on fun and engaging game development projects.

Members discuss personal projects and industry events, as well as engage with invited speakers (in-person and remote). Members also participate in events like Hackathons and Game Jams as a group.

GoBabyGo!

GoBabyGo! focuses on increasing mobility and quality of life solutions for children whose access to such may be limited during their early developmental years for a variety of reasons. The organization is centered around the modification of ride-on cars and similar toys and devices.

Honor Societies

  • Omega Chi Epsilon
    National Honor Society for chemical engineering. The Society promotes high scholarship, encourages original investigation in chemical engineering and recognizes the valuable traits of character, integrity and leadership. It serves both undergraduate and graduate students and fosters meaningful student-faculty dialogue.
  • Pi Tau Sigma
    International mechanical engineering honor society. Members in UD's Delta Nu chapter are in the top percentile of their junior and senior classes, on track for future success, and are committed to the field of mechanical engineering.
  • Tau Alpha Pi
    National honor society for engineering technology. The group recognizes high standards of scholarship among students in engineering technology programs, and also promotes and encourages scholastic achievement by offering outstanding engineering technology students membership in the society.
  • Tau Beta Pi
    Engineering Honor Society; students with Junior or Senior status in any engineering discipline who have reached the scholastic requirements and have shown exemplary character are invited to join. TBP focuses on academics, service, networking, and social events. Events include service projects in the community, student/professor networking events, spaghetti dinners, trivia nights, pumpkin carvings and free pies on Pi Day.

Motorsports Club

Helps to foster interest in cars and motorsports. The club is based on socializing with other like-minded car enthusiasts by attending events supported by local sports car clubs, including car shows, F1 watch parties, autocross and drifting. We also have a relationship with the British Transportation Museum (about 1 mile from campus) restoring and maintaining its classic cars.

Members learn about car culture in the Dayton area by participating in local automotive events. Members help each other work on their cars, performing repairs and modifications.

All are welcome, whether or not you have a vehicle.

Multi-Ethnic Engineers Program

The UD Multi-Ethnic Engineers Program (MEP) is a diverse and inclusive community committed to the success of undergraduate multi-ethnic students underrepresented in engineering at UD. MEP helps foster a sense of belonging, building engineering identity and promoting self-efficacy.

All students are invited to be part of MEP.

Redline Robotics Club

Design and fabricate your own combat robot to compete in local, regional, and even national events — while having fun and building connections with other students. The Club's mission is to provide you with the resources and training to design and compete with a combat robot at various weight classes in an educational and supportive environment. Members gain interdisciplinary skills as they explore alternate branches of engineering.

RE-volv Solar Ambassador Program

San Francisco-based nonprofit organization dedicated to crowdfunding solar energy projects for other non-profits around the country.

UD's RE-volv Solar Ambassador Program trains ambassadors in crowdfunding, solar policy, community engagement and project management to benefit a local community partner.

UD3D

Student-run 3D printing club that educates students on the topic of consumer-grade additive manufacturing and prototyping.

You'll learn how to build, run, and operate consumer-grade 3D printers. Projects and events include, but are not limited to, recyclable filament research and development, maker space and additive manufacturing plant tours, and design competitions.

Women Engineering Program

Helps you discover your passions and provides opportunities for networking, service, personal and academic growth. WEP hosts professional development workshops, community service activities and community building and social events.

Membership is open to all on campus.


National and International Professional Societies

American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA)

World's largest technical society dedicated to the global aerospace profession. An opportunity for students and professionals to collaborate in the aerospace industry.

American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AICHE)

World's leading organization for chemical engineering professionals.

UD's chapter of AIChE provides a range of opportunities to chemical engineering majors, including professional development events, service outings and mentorship programs. We also have a CME Car team, where students can apply technical and innovative skills to design and build a small car powered by a chemical reaction. The team competes annually at the Regional AIChE Conference.

American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)

UD's chapter of ASCE provides civil engineering students with the opportunity to begin a relationship of professional association through activities such as regional competitions, monthly meetings, social events and a golf outing.

Members also participate in ASCE's Steel Bridge competition.

American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE)

UD's chapter of ASHRAE offers monthly meetings and the opportunity to learn from industry experts about topics such as energy efficiency practices and renewable energy technologies.

American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)

Enables collaboration, knowledge sharing, career enrichment and skills development across all engineering disciplines, toward a goal of helping the global engineering community develop solutions to benefit lives and livelihoods.

Institute of Electrical Electronics Engineers (IEEE)

Connects electrical and computer engineering and technology majors with cutting-edge technologies and career options relating to their fields.

Institute of Electrical Electronics Engineers - Women in Engineering (IEEE-WIE)

IEEE-WIE is a subgroup of Institute of Electrical Electronics Engineers (IEEE) that connects women interested in electrical and electronic engineering.

Institute of Industrial Systems Engineers (IISE)

World's largest professional society dedicated to the support of industrial engineering and individuals involved with improving quality and productivity. IISE provides leadership for the application, education, training, research and development of industrial engineering.

Members have the opportunity to network with other industrial engineering students, faculty, alumni and professionals. IISE hosts professional development workshops, guest speakers and facility tours on campus and locally to prepare students professionally for internships and careers in industrial engineering. Since IISE is a national organization, there is also opportunity for travel and networking with other collegiate IISE groups.

Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE)

Promotes the education and professional development of students interested in transportation engineering and planning. The organization introduces you to the many facets of transportation engineering by inviting speakers or by visiting agencies and project locations.

National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)

Dedicated to the academic and professional success of Black and African-American engineering students and professionals. NSBE offers its members leadership training, professional development activities, mentoring opportunities, career placement services and more.

Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (oSTEM)

Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (oSTEM), Inc. is a non-profit professional association for LGBTQ+ people in the STEM community. It's the largest chapter-based organization focused on LGBTQ+ people in STEM.

Phi Sigma Rho

UD's Gamma Chapter of this social sorority for women in engineering and technical majors. Members develop the highest standard of personal integrity, strive for academic excellence and build friendships that last a lifetime.

Sigma Sigma Epsilon

Creates a network of like-minded students that are interested in the field of sales engineering. Events include guest speakers, interactive sales workshops, industry visits, leadership talks, national sales competitions and numerous social gatherings.

Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE)

International professional member society that provides information and conferences on new materials and processing technology.

Aspiring engineers at UD get the opportunity to gain experience working hands-on in competitions that deal with building composite bridges for flexure testing and using 3-D printing to make plastic columns for compression testing.

Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE)

Founded to prepare Asian heritage scientists, engineers and technologists for success in the global business world, celebrate diversity on campuses and in the workplace, and to provide opportunities for members to make contributions to their local communities.

Membership is open to all.

Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Baja Club

Provides a way for undergraduate engineering students to develop collaboration skills and apply engineering ethics and practices from the classroom to design a competitive off-road vehicle.

Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE)

Empowers members to realize their full potential and to excel both in their academic and professional careers within all STEM fields.

Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME)

Acquires and distributes manufacturing knowledge among its members and the broader manufacturing community.

Society of Women Engineers (SWE)

One of the largest professional networks of women in the nation and on campus. As an extracurricular, professional and service organization, SWE empowers women to succeed and advance in the field of engineering. Through training and development programs, networking opportunities, community building activities, scholarships, outreach and advocacy activities, and much more, SWE helps women reach their full potential in the field of engineering.
