How do I apply?
You can apply to the UD Sinclair Academy for free online.
Do I have to apply to both UD and Sinclair College?
Students should select the UD Sinclair Academy on the first step of the University of Dayton application.
Students not already enrolled at Sinclair College will also need to apply to Sinclair.
Can I apply to both the UD Sinclair Academy and the University of Dayton?
Yes, you can apply to both the UD Sinclair Academy and the University of Dayton. You have two options:
- Complete our free application for admission twice. On the first application, select to apply to the UD Sinclair Academy. On the second application, select to apply to UD for undergraduate admission.
- Alternatively, you can complete our free application for admission to apply to the UD Sinclair Academy and then submit the Common App to apply for admission to the University of Dayton (The Common App is not available for UD Sinclair Academy applications).
Admission timelines differ for the Academy and UD. You'll receive separate admission decisions and (if admitted) merit scholarship awards and financial aid offers for each application.
What are the application deadlines?
The application deadlines for the UD Sinclair Academy are Aug. 1 for the fall semester and Feb. 1 for the spring semester.
Why is eligible to apply to the Academy?
You can apply to the UD Sinclair Academy if you are either a:
- Current high school students who has completed high school through at least their junior year.
- Current Sinclair College student who has at least one full semester remaining to complete their associate's degree.
I attended another college before Sinclair. Do I need to send transcripts from that school?
Official transcripts should be sent to UD from all colleges and universities previously attended as part of the UD Sinclair Academy application process.
What are the admission requirements to be accepted into the Academy?
Admission requirements differ depending on whether a student is applying as a high school student or a current Sinclair College student. Specific admission requirements for each type of applicant can be found in the application process.
What scholarships are available through the UD Sinclair Academy?
Students admitted to the UD Sinclair Academy will be automatically considered for academic merit scholarships as either a first-year or transfer student into the program.
Is my UD financial aid offer locked in?
Yes, the net tuition on your UD financial aid offer is guaranteed. UD Sinclair Academy students have up to three years to complete their associate's degree (or minimum 30 credit hours for engineering pathways) before transitioning to UD.
Am I eligible for a textbook scholarship?
UD Sinclair Academy students can earn a textbook scholarship worth up to $500 per semester for UD course materials. To be eligible, you must file the FAFSA and list both Sinclair and UD to receive the results.
Do I need to file the FAFSA for both Sinclair and UD?
Students and families are encouraged to file the FAFSA for both Sinclair and UD. UD will review the FAFSA at the time of admission into the UD Sinclair Academy and will put together a transparent financial aid offer outlining the cost to complete the bachelor's degree.
Will I have an academic advisor at both Sinclair and UD?
Yes, academic advising from both schools is a benefit of the UD Sinclair Academy. Students are required to meet with their UD advisor at least once a semester while enrolled at Sinclair.
What if I haven't chosen a major?
Students do need to select a major when applying into the UD Sinclair Academy. Some pathways may offer more flexibility for students who are undecided within a specific discipline. If you are unsure about your major, contact James Magwood.
Do I have to earn an associate's degree at Sinclair before I transition to UD?
Most majors require the completion of an associate's degree to be eligible to transition to UD. Students pursuing majors under the School of Engineering are required to complete a minimum of 30 credit hours toward their pathway at Sinclair.
I'm interested in a major that doesn't have a pathway through the Academy. Can I still participate?
Students must commit to a pathway program that is offered through the UD Sinclair Academy.
Students interested in a major outside of the Academy offerings are encouraged to explore our undergraduate admission website for information on admission requirements, scholarships and application deadlines.
Is joining the Honors Program an option for UDSA students?
Yes, students who earn a 3.7 cumulative college GPA or higher (or a 3.5 GPA cumulative GPA having taken any honors courses) at Sinclair or another college are welcome to join the University Honors Program when completion of the Honors Diploma is feasible. Up to 12 credits of Honors courses taken at Sinclair with a "B" or better may be applied toward the Honors Diploma at UD.
