Professional and Applied Learning Fellowship

The UD Sinclair Academy's Professional and Applied Learning (PAL) Fellowship offers a four-year experience at Sinclair and UD focused on comprehensive student support and professional career readiness, providing one-on-one guidance from academic advisors and work success professionals to prepare graduates to soar in high demand fields.

Across their four-year journeys at Sinclair College and the University of Dayton, PAL Fellows are part of a close-knit community of Pell-eligible students empowered with resources, support and industry experiences, including:

  • Individualized Student Support: Dedicated staff members will help guide student's journeys as they explore their vocation and make industry connections. 
  • Holistic Academic Advising: As a student in the UD Sinclair Academy, Sinclair advisors will support you to ensure you stay on track in your pathway. You'll also meet with your UD advisor all four years — they will connect you with campus resources and ensure your credits will transfer seamlessly to UD.
  • Community from the Start: The PAL Fellowship is designed with an intentional focus on cohort-based engagement to allow students to build community and connections through a first-year summer bridge program, workshops and events throughout their four years. 
  • Work-based Experiential Learning: Each semester, students will participate in opportunities to gain workplace-ready skills through workshops, professional development and hands-on learning. These experiences will build over four years, helping students gain confidence and real-world experience in their fields of study. Financial assistance will be available to support students with work-related costs, such as purchasing professional attire, travel costs and more.

As part of the UD Sinclair Academy, students benefit from a seamless pathway to ensure all credits transfer from Sinclair to UD. You'll also have full transparency about the cost of your degree. After being admitted to the Academy, you'll receive a four-year financial aid offer from UD outlining your costs for all four years, allowing you to plan for success with confidence.

 

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be current high school seniors or graduates within the last three years. Applicants must not be currently enrolled at Sinclair or another college.
  • Applicants must apply to a STEM pathway.
  • To be eligible, families must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and qualify for a Pell Grant.

Application Process

Apply to the UD Sinclair Academy to be considered.

High school students must meet UD's undergraduate admission requirements for entering first-year students, as well as submit:

  • Official high school completion document.
  • Official college transcripts for credit earned from College Credit Plus or Dual Enrollment, if applicable.
  • Official AP, CLEP and IB score reports, if applicable.
  • Official ACT or SAT test score, if desired; UD is test-optional in admission.

There is no fee to apply to the UD Sinclair Academy.

Selection Process

  • Students who are accepted to the UD Sinclair Academy and eligible for the program will receive a consideration email, inviting them to participate in an interview. We will work with students and their schools to schedule interviews.
  • Students are required to participate in the the summer bridge program and other program-related activities throughout their college experience.

In addition a top-tier education, PAL Fellows are guided through four years of work-based educational experiences from site visits and mock interviews to internships and co-ops to graduate ready for success in high-demand industries.
