Dr. Guru Subramanyam, professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and School of Engineering faculty fellow, has been selected as an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) Microwave Theory and Technology Society’s (MTT-S) Distinguished Microwave Lecturer (DML), for the class of 2027-29.
This lectureship represents internationally recognized experts and technical leaders in their fields within MTT-S. The DML program works with over 400 chapters around the world and organizes talks to be delivered by DMLs either in-person or virtually.
“I am honored to be selected as one of the six DMLs for the class of 2027-29,” Subramanyam said. “As an ambassador of our society, I plan to take this amazing opportunity to inspire the next generation of researchers on the integration of advanced materials and devices for new functionalities.”
Subramanyam’s current research involves multifunctional oxide thin films including reconfigurable microwave circuits, phase change materials, and memristors for neuromorphic computing.
“My talk will introduce the state of the art wireless communication technology, and how integration of advanced materials contribute to solving key challenges in implementing 5G and 6G systems. It will highlight two innovative thin-film technologies that make microwave circuits more adaptable and efficient for next-generation communication systems, along with their unique properties and real-world applications," Subramanyam said.
