The National Weather Service has issued a cold weather advisory until noon Saturday for wind chills as low as nine below zero. As cold weather persists, the University wants to remind our community about tips for protecting yourself, your residences and your property, plus dealing with winter weather. These will be posted on UD's emergency preparedness and response page, along with updates on weather alerts, event cancellations and building closures.

Language of the Universe

Mathematics is the study of shape and form, of numbers and patterns, of concrete examples and abstract generalizations. As a discipline, mathematics is not easy to categorize: it's an art, a science and a philosophy; it's pure and applied.

Although mathematics has engaged human thought for millennia, it is still today a vibrant and growing area of human endeavor with new and important discoveries.

At the University of Dayton, mathematics majors gain a firm foundation in the concepts and skills of mathematics, and acquire an appreciation for the beauty and power of the subject.
