Policy

The FlyerCard is the official photo identification card at the University of Dayton.  It is non-transferable and may only be used by the cardholder to whom it is issued.  The FlyerCard is available in two forms: digital and physical.  Each individual is limited to one form of the FlyerCard, except in limited circumstances, as determined by Campus Card Services.

The FlyerCard is the primary means of access to university buildings and facilities.  It must also be presented for purchases from FlyerCard accounts, access to meal plans, classroom attendance, admission to the RecPlex, and access to library services.  The cardholder is obligated to provide or display the FlyerCard, whether digital or physical, upon request by any University official or Public Safety officer.

Access to University facilities, services, or cardholder’s accounts may be denied if the account is suspended by the University, the card is deactivated by the cardholder, or if the card is damaged.

Obtaining a FlyerCard:

  • Digital FlyerCard:  Students, faculty, and staff must use a personal supported device and follow the protocol set forth on the Campus Card Services website.
  • Physical FlyerCard:  Individuals must show a valid photo ID (i.e., driver’s license, State ID, passport, or military ID) to obtain a physical FlyerCard.  Third-party affiliates requiring building access must also provide verification from their University sponsoring unit.  The first card is free for faculty, staff, and students; third-party affiliates will be charged directly unless their sponsoring unit covers the cost.

Lost or Stolen Cards

  • Lost or stolen cards, whether physical or digital, should be reported immediately to Campus Card Services.  Reports can be made during business hours by contacting Campus Card Services or anytime via the online portal at https://mycard.udayton.edu.  Prompt reporting ensures the termination of access privileges to safeguard personal and institutional security.  Replacement physical cards are available for a fee.
  • In emergencies or after business hours, Public Safety can terminate access to maintain security.

Departmental Integration & Security Compliance for FlyerCard Use

Departments may integrate with the FlyerCard system for authorized access or services.  Integration options include, but are not limited to:  facility access control; event or program check-in and membership validation, or access to special programs or resources; data access for departmental records.  All department integrations must receive prior approval from Campus Card Services to ensure security, data protection, and compliance with university policies.  Departments are required to adhere to the Fair, Responsible, and Acceptable Usage Policy, and if applicable, the Electronic Use of Confidential Data Policy to maintain data integrity and prevent unauthorized access.  Departmental use must also align with the Information Security Policy to safeguard both physical and digital access points associated with the FlyerCard system.

The cardholder agrees to the Terms and Conditions posted on the University website upon using the card.

Flyer Express

Flyer Express is a prepaid debit account available to faculty, staff, and students through their FlyerCard, usable at participating on and off campus locations.  Flyer Express accounts with a positive balance will remain open and will carry forward to the next semester or year for all registered students and active employees.

The FlyerCard is not a credit card.  Under no circumstances may debits or charges to an account reduce the account balance below zero.  Under no circumstance may the FlyerCard be used to obtain cash or cash advances.

The Flyer Express account is activated by an initial deposit with no fees for use.  No interest shall be paid on any balance in the account.  The FlyerCard and the related account(s) are not transferable.  Refunds from the Flyer Express account may be requested once per semester either in person or in writing to the Campus Card Services Office.  In addition, students who graduate or otherwise separate from the University with a balance greater than $10 in their Flyer Express account will receive a refund.  All refunds to students will be transferred to the UD Student Account.

Refunds from the Student Account can be requested from the Office of Student Accounts if all University debts are satisfied.  No refunds from the Flyer Express account will be made for balances less than $10.

Faculty/Staff who separate from the University with a balance greater than $10 in their Flyer Express account will have a check mailed to them.
