Themes and dates for our 2025 RecKids Camp were:

  • Week 2 (June 2-6): RECkids Art Gallery
  • Week 3 (June 9-13): RECkids Sports Cup
  • Week 4 (June 16-20): Shipwrecked
  • Week 5 (June 23-27): Superheroes Unite
  • Week 6 (July 7-11): Cartoon Comics
  • Week 7 (July 14-18): Under the Sea
  • Week 8 (July 21-25): Wild West Adventure
  • Week 9 (July 28-August 1): RECkids Got Talent

Sample Schedule

Camp runs daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; early drop-off and late pick-up are available for an additional cost. 

Schedule is subject to change.

Morning Arrival: 8 - 9 a.m.

Campers arrive and participate in activities in the North Gym with our counselors. Morning arrival will take place inside the facility off the west entrance (Evanston Ave) A parent/guardian must check in the camper by signing our morning check-in log.

Opening Assembly and Morning Stretch: 9-9:30 a.m.

We review camp expectations, discuss the schedule for the day, and engage in fun activities to get campers moving and ready for the day.

Activity Block 1: 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.

Moving outdoors, campers participate in hands-on, team-oriented, and high energy games that relate to the weekly theme, such as sport drills, obstacle courses, and rock climbing.

Snack: 10:30 - 10:45 a.m.

Campers take a quick water and snack break.

Activity Block 2: 10:45 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Campers enjoy creative experiences that feature different art, movement, service or nature activities that promote experiential learning and creativity.

Lunch: 12 - 12:35 p.m. 

We often eat lunch outside, weather permitting. We encourage campers to bring a nutritious lunch.

 

Activity Block 3: 12:45 - 1:15 p.m.

We will engage in moderate to vigorous physical activities and exercise to warm our bodies and minds for an afternoon of fun.

Aquatics: 1:15 - 2:30 p.m.

The weather turns hot in the afternoon, and water games and activities are the perfect way to cool down. Each Monday, campers will perform a swim test to help counselors gauge each camper's ability in the water. Life jackets are available for campers.

Rest and Snack Time: 2:30-3 p.m.

We will take a water and snack break, reapply sunscreen as needed, check in and see how everyone's doing as we prepare for our afternoon activities in a quiet RecPlex studio or under a shady tree for snack time coupled with reading, quiet crafts, and some relaxation.

Activity Block 4: 3-3:45 p.m.

Closing the day in celebration, campers participate in hands-on, active, and collaborative activities that relate to the weekly theme.

Closing: 3:45 - 4 p.m.

Campers come together to recap our day and preview activities planned for tomorrow.

Evening Check-Out: 4 - 5 p.m.

Evening check-out will take place inside the facility off the west entrance (Evanston Ave.). Only individuals listed on the camper's registration form may sign out a camper.
