Program Highlights

Accreditation

The UD Master of Physician Assistant Practice (MPAP) program is accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).

The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation-Continued status to the University of Dayton Physician Assistant Program sponsored by the University of Dayton. Accreditation-Continued is an accreditation status granted when a currently accredited program is in compliance with the ARC-PA Standards.

Accreditation remains in effect until the program closes or withdraws from the accreditation process or until accreditation is withdrawn for failure to comply with the Standards. The approximate date for the next validation review of the program by the ARC-PA will be March 2029. The review date is contingent upon continued compliance with the Accreditation Standards and ARC-PA policy.

The program's accreditation history can be viewed on the ARC-PA website.

Clinical Experience

Our program utilizes state-of-the-art technology blended with traditional hands-on experiences to provide you with the best possible experience to prepare you for clinical practice.

Students complete nine clinical experiences: orthopedics, family medicine, pediatrics, adult medicine, women's health, emergency medicine, mental health, general surgery and an elective experience.

Each rotation is four weeks long, except for the elective experience (which is 10 weeks long).

The elective experience can be broken down into shorter periods of time for a student to have exposure to a variety of medical fields, based on their interest for post-graduation employment or further exposure to a core rotation.

Preceptor Information

The University of Dayton Physician Assistant Education program is offering a monetary stipend to medical providers who accept and precept UD PA students for clinical experience. The stipend in proportional to the amount of time our student spends at the assigned clinical site. Contact Kelli Huesman, director of clinical education, for more information.
