It's Not Enough to Just Learn About Business
As a UD business student, your classroom experiences will give you a solid base of understanding into the operations of any business enterprise. But this is just the start of your education.
To really excel as a business professional, you'll need to gain practical business wisdom outside the classroom. That's why we created BWISE (pronounced "Be Wise"): Business Wisdom through International, Service and Experiential Education.
BWISE Requirements
In order to complete the BWISE graduation requirement, you must complete these three components:
- Intercultural: To fulfill the intercultural BWISE requirement, you'll complete intercultural coursework or one UD-approved intercultural experience with 30+ hours of hands-on cultural engagement, including study abroad or intercultural internships. You'll graduate with a broader worldview, stronger intercultural skills and a competitive edge in business.
- Service: Service is central to our mission. Rooted in our Catholic and Marianist heritage, our curriculum inspires civic engagement. We're committed to empowering you to volunteer your time, talents and knowledge to solve problems in our community and beyond.
- Experiential Learning Internship (BIZ 497: Professional Work Experience): A qualifying internship is a professional experience where you apply what you've learned in class, build critical skills and gain feedback from an experienced supervisor either in person, remote or hybrid. Internships can take place during the academic year or the summer and must be School of Business Administration-pre-approved and 120+ hours.
The result? Career clarity, professional confidence and a competitive edge at graduation.
