As the 2024-25 academic year begins, the Marian Library at the University of Dayton extends an open invitation to faculty, staff and the community to collaborate on instruction, enjoy artwork from around the world and receive research support.
Inviting Instructors
Librarians in the Marian Library are ready to collaboratively create learning opportunities that support program, course and campus learning objectives through a variety of teaching approaches.
As special collections instruction librarian Michele Jennings explains, “Special collections — archives, art and rare books — are a catalyst for student learning, creative expression and critical thinking.”

Engaging Exhibits
- For a moment of quiet devotion, visit Moments with Mary in the Marian Library Gallery through Nov. 1 to see intimate portraits of Mary by 30 women artists from around the world.
- While Nativity sets are on display year-round in the Crèche Museum and online, the Marian Library’s 30th annual Christmas exhibit opens Nov. 25. Joy to the World! celebrates the birth of Jesus with artwork, Nativities and Christmas songs in the Stuart and Mimi Rose Gallery on the first floor of Roesch Library and in the Marian Library Gallery and Crèche Museum on the seventh floor.
- Throughout Lent, visitors can reflect on Mary’s grief at the death of her son, Jesus, with artwork depicting the Pieta. On loan from the Sacred Art Pilgrim Collection, this exhibit will be on display in the Stuart and Mimi Rose gallery March 3–May 9, 2025.
- In the spring of 2025, the Marian Library Gallery will display a range of textiles, including scapulars, embroideries, and more. Marian Library artist-in-residence Darden Bradshaw, an associate professor in the Department of Art and Design, will create a new piece in response to the collection items. Drop-in times to converse with Bradshaw as she weaves in the gallery will be announced.
